TRANSITIONS FOR THE IMAGES (hide)

A) Simple introduction

This is about transitions between two batches of images. A transition is somehow a shift between two videos (in this case, EKD works only with transitions on two sequences, Sequence A and Sequence B). At the end of the treatment, you’ll be able to transform these images into videos, if you want.

Right now, two transitions are available at choice: dissolve and spiral.

a1) Dissolve

It allows you to go from one sequence of images A to a sequence of images B, in a gently way. Images of the sequence A, then those of the sequence B chosen by the user will be (said in a very simple way) superimposed one on the other. For more informations, follow this link.

a2) Spiral

It allows to go from a sequence of images A to a sequence of images B by a spiral (the two series of images get together in a winding spiral and then in an unwinding one).

B) Practical case (dissolve transition)

b1) Loading images

Go to the Image(s) sequence A tab and click on the button Add.

A dialogue box appears, go to the directory in which you have the images (on the left side), your images are shown as thumbnails (by default) on the right side. To select several images at the same time, click on the first thumbnail, then, by keeping the SHIFT key pushed click on the last thumbnail, click then on Add.

Here are the images (represented by the thumbnails) once in the main window (in the Image(s) sequence A tab).

Go now in the Image(s) sequence B tab and click on the button Add.

b2) Settings

Select now the Settings tab and leave the values by default. If you wish to know more about these two settings, follow the link).

b3) See the result

You can see the result in a new window (and before the final treatment) by the button See the result.

Here’s the result in the preview window (this is about the dissolve between the last image of the batch in the Image(s) sequence A tab and the first image of the batch in the Image(s) sequence B tab), click on the button Back to go back to the main window.

b4) Final tratment (for the dissolve)

Click on the button Apply and save to go to the final treatment.

If your images are not at the same size, a dialogue bow asks you if you want to resize the images (it is better to answer Yes, otherwise the treatment will not take place).

Pay attention (it’s good to know): the images of the sequance A have (the most of them and in our exemple) a resolution of 320 x 256 pixels, and those of the sequence B, have a resolution of 500 x 439 pixels. The final size of the images for the dissolve transition will be the one (the most common size) of the images loaded in the Image(s) séquence A tab:

The window for saving Save) gets open, here, on the left side, select the final directory (if needed look in the sub directories), type the title in the text field File name: and click on the button Save.

Once the treatment is done (and the progression bar starts to work), your images (result of the dissolve between sequence A and sequence B) are shown in the Image(s) afetr treatement tab …

C) Practical case (spiral transition)

If we choose the spiral transition, here’s what we’d seen (the way things work is the same as said before):

The preview window is available by the button See the result.

The final treatment in the Image(s) afet treatment tab.

D) Exemples by video

Here are some videos showing the result of the transitions:
