VIDEO PROCESSING BY THE EXEMPLE (hide)
A) Introduction
a1) Loading videos
We’re going to take as an exemple the Video > Transcoding > General. Once you’re in the right menu, to load some videos, (in the Vidéo(s) source tab) click on the button Add (the icon is representing an opening directory), …

… in the Searching videos window, on the left side, select the directory (if needed, look in the sub directories), look for the video(s). If you want to select more than one video at the same time, keep the CTRL (ou SHIFT) pushed (and by selecting them at the same time), click on Add …

Your videos have been added to the list.

You can now use your videos (pay attention, EKD will work with one video at the time, so for the moment there’s no treatment of a batch of videos). Before entering in the details for our transcoding, we’re going to check all the possibilities about informations, playing and displaying the video you select (be sure to select the right video in the list). The last option is the possibility to get some video files out of the list and the displaying of the icons in different ways.
a2) Informations
You can get some complete informations on the selected video, and this is possible by the button Infos.

a3) Playing and displaying
As you can see in the image below, you can play the video in this tab (but also to pause it or stop it as well) and this is possible with the buttons made for that. You can set a resolution for the displaying : in 4/3, in 16/9, or in the original definiton of the video (w;h). For this last choice, be careful as not all the videos offer the possibility to be read at their original resolution.

a4) Remove videos and icons displaying set
The button whose icon has a red cross shape let you Remove one or several files from the list. Another possibility, you can select the icon displaying set by a scrolling list (possible choices: Icon mode, Icon mode in column and texte mode).

B) The treatment of the videos
b1) Different settings
Let’s now talk about the real transcoding (the video which will be used has been previuosly selected), go to the Settings tab, select the output codec and do the compression settings if necessary.

b2) Starting the treatment
To start this final part click on the button Apply.
b3) Saving
Soon after this, the saving window gets open (Save) , and here, on the left, select the final directory (if needed, go to the sub directories), type the title in the text field File name: and click on the button Save.

b4) During the treatment
The progression bar gets open and it shows you the progress of the task.

b5) The available informations
Once you finish this part, you can access the informations on the task that has been made, to do this click on the button See the informations about encoding. At the end, click on the button Close.

b6) Play the result
Go to the Play video tab, you’ll be able to play the video coming from the transcoding. In this tab, you can also choose the buttons play/pause, stop and the choice about the displaying resolution (4/3, 16/9 and (w;h)).

Last option in this tab, the Videos comparator (available from the button with the same name), let you play (on two different screens) the video before and after the treatment.

b7) Informations about the paths
At the end, the Infos tab let you see the video(s) loaded (with the exact paths) before and after the conversion.
